Does your site have the text "Just another WordPress site" in the header or title bar?
Often beginners do not know how to change this slogan. But leaving it in place doesn't look good. Fortunately, it's really easy to change this to something else, or even remove it entirely.
In this tutorial we will show you step by step how to change the text "Just another WordPress site".
What is the slogan of a WordPress site?
A slogan is the slogan or description of a WordPress site. Many websites use a slogan as a slogan to describe their website and brand.
By default, WordPress uses "Just another WordPress site" for your website's slogan when you first create a website. Not all topics display the slogan, but many will.
You should definitely change this text from the default. In fact, this is on our list of the most important things you should do after installing WordPress.
Here at WPBeginner we use "Beginner's Guide to WordPress" as a slogan. You can see it directly under our navigation menu. It is also in the title tag of our website in your browser.
You don't have to have a slogan for your website at all.
The subject or mission of your website may be evident from the domain name.
However, if your domain name isn't clearly linked to your blogging niche, adding a catchy slogan may be a good idea.
Method 1: change your slogan in WordPress settings
The easiest way to change the slogan "Just another WordPress site" is in the settings of your WordPress site.
First of all, you need to go to your WordPress dashboard. You can usually do this by adding / wp-admin to the end of your website's domain name.
For example, if your site is named example.com, your WordPress dashboard is at example.com/wp-admin.
If you are not already signed in, WordPress will ask you to sign in.
Once you are signed in, you have to go Settings »General on your dashboard, and that’s where the tagline box will appear.
You can either change the slogan or remove it entirely by unchecking the box.
In our example, we use "WordPress tips and tricks" for our example website.
If you've changed this, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Save Changes" button.
Now you can visit your website and see your new slogan:
Method 2: Change your Tagline in the WordPress Theme Customizer
You can also change your slogan in the WordPress Theme Customizer.
Go to it Appearance »Customize in your WordPress dashboard.
The main part of your screen shows a preview of your website. On the left you will find a series of tabs that you can use to customize various aspects of your website.
First, you need to look for a tab labeled "Site Identity". This is usually at the top or near the top.
Note: If you don't see the Site Identity tab, expand other tabs to see if they're nested beneath them. For example, the site identity is on the "Header" tab in the Astra design.
Click the Site Identity tab to expand it. A field will appear in which you can change your slogan.
In the topic we use, Button, we also have the option to deactivate the display of the title and slogan of the site.
The theme customization options are determined by the WordPress theme you are using. Therefore, various options may appear here.
If you've changed the slogan the way you want to use it, click the "Publish" button at the top of the screen.
Troubleshoot your slogan
Usually changing your slogan goes smoothly. But what if you've changed your slogan and the text "Just another WordPress site" still appears?
Wrong slogan on your own website
First, check that you have actually saved your changes. Go back to Settings »General and check if your slogan is correct there. Change it again if necessary and click "Save changes" at the bottom of the page.
If the text "Just another WordPress site" still appears on your site itself, clear the cache.
You can also try checking your website on another device or browser to see if it is a browser cache problem.
If the problem persists, you will need to contact your WordPress hosting support for help.
Wrong slogan on Google
What if the text "Just another WordPress site" no longer exists on your website but is still displayed in a Google search?
The best way to fix this is with a Google Search Console account.

You will now see URL details. Click the "Request Indexing" link.
